The Alghini Institute never sells, rents, shares, or trades donor lists or donor personal information to third parties under any circumstances. This policy applies to all donor data, whether collected online, by mail, by phone, or in person.
The Alghini Institute for Italian Americans (EIN: 99-0439703) is committed to the highest standards of donor stewardship. We adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals' (AFP) Donor Bill of Rights and maintain the following institutional commitments:
- Donor names, mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, giving amounts, and giving history are held in strict confidence and will never be disclosed, sold, rented, or exchanged with any third party for any purpose.
- We do not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.
- Donors may opt out of all communications at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link included in every email.
- All donations are processed securely via Stripe in accordance with PCI DSS Level 1 standards. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
- We provide timely, accurate acknowledgment letters and tax receipts for all contributions as required by IRS regulations.
- Donor information is accessible only to authorized staff members who require it to process donations and issue receipts.
This donor data protection policy is reviewed annually by our Board of Directors to ensure ongoing compliance with nonprofit best practices and applicable state and federal regulations.

The Alghini Institute for Italian Americans (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates italianamericans.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our Site, make a donation, sign up for our newsletter, or otherwise interact with our services.

- Right to delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected, with certain exceptions.

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe in compliance with PCI DSS Level 1 standards. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Donation records are retained for a minimum of seven years for tax and audit compliance. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for up to two years.
Opt-Out & Communication Preferences
You have the right to control how and whether we communicate with you. The Alghini Institute provides the following opt-out mechanisms:
- Newsletter & mailing list: Every email we send includes an “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom. Clicking it will immediately remove you from our mailing list. You may also email [email protected] with the subject line “Unsubscribe” and we will process your request within 5 business days.
- Cookies & analytics: You may withdraw cookie consent at any time via our on-site cookie banner, or by adjusting your browser settings to block cookies.
- Account deletion: If you have created an account, you may request full deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at [email protected].
- Donor communications: Donors who wish to remain anonymous or cease receiving acknowledgment correspondence may notify us at any time.
Opting out of promotional communications will not affect transactional messages such as donation receipts or account security notifications.
Children's Privacy
Our Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
