Thanksgiving · Every Family Has a Story
Thankful for the Stories That Made Us
Some of the best things we inherit cannot be wrapped or mailed: a recipe, a familiar voice, a photograph with a story behind it. This Thanksgiving, ask one more question. You might preserve something no one else knows.
This free family activity is for everyone, whether you support the Annual Fund or not.

Six questions worth asking
Use these with someone in your family, or as a way to remember someone who is no longer with us. Ask permission before recording or sharing a story.
01
What is one family tradition you hope we never lose?
02
Who taught you to make a dish everyone still remembers?
03
What was Thanksgiving or Sunday dinner like when you were young?
04
What did a parent, grandparent, or ancestor teach you about starting over?
05
Whose voice or favorite story do you wish we could hear again?
06
What is one story you want the next generation to know?
Help carry family stories into 2027.
The Alghini Institute's 2026 Annual Fund supports our free research, educational publishing, website, and developing Digital Piazza archive. Gifts are unrestricted; a donation does not purchase a story or guarantee publication.
The goal is $50,000 by December 31, 2026. You can participate in this activity without donating.
A gift to a registered nonprofit
Alghini Institute for Italian Americans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. EIN: 99-0439703. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Gifts support the Institute’s mission and are unrestricted.
A gift does not purchase a service, archive entry, or story publication. Donors may separately opt in to a name acknowledgment after their personal gifts are verified. Workplace giving receipts may come from the foundation that processes your company’s program.
