A surname on an old document. A recipe remembered by a grandparent. A family story passed from one generation to the next.

These everyday connections help tell the Italian American story. Every Family Has a Story is our annual fund drive, with a goal of $50,000 by December 31, 2026 to sustain our free publishing, heritage research, educational resources, website, and developing archive.

Help these stories reach the next generation

Our work starts with stories people can read and resources they can use. The one-family-story guide offers a respectful way to begin with a photograph or a conversation. The free Family History Starter Kit helps organize research and record what a family knows. Our Digital Piazza connects readers with the developing Italian American Heritage Archive, which is in public beta.

Your contribution supports the work behind these resources: publishing, research, the website, archive development, and related operating costs. Gifts are unrestricted. A particular amount does not purchase a specific resource, reserve a service, or guarantee that a submitted story will be published.

A $50,000 goal, with progress you can follow

We expect a $1,000 personal gift from Christopher Alghini and a $1,000 corporate match to help launch the annual fund. Both remain expected until verified. This expected $2,000 will be included in confirmed progress once documented; it is not a matching pool for other gifts. The employer remains unnamed.

The campaign homepage shows verified donations and documented approved employer matches, with an update date. Reported gifts awaiting verification remain separate. That gives us a way to include workplace support even when a donation happens outside our website.

Join with $10, $25, or an amount that feels right for you. You can also make an unrestricted gift in honor of a parent, grandparent, or ancestor. Tribute dedications remain private; they do not purchase story publication, an archive benefit, or public acknowledgment of the person honored.

Choose optional donor acknowledgment

Every gift is welcome. If you would like your own name acknowledged on our annual fund donor page, you can request optional publication in one of three giving levels:

  • Heritage Leadership Circle: verified personal gifts of $1,000 or more.
  • Storykeepers Circle: verified personal gifts from $250 to under $1,000.
  • Friends of ItalianAmericans.com: verified personal gifts below $250.

Only your verified personal gifts determine your giving level; employer matches do not raise it. We publish an approved display name only after gift verification and your explicit permission. Acknowledgment lasts 12 months from publication, and you can request removal sooner. Remaining private is always an option. A request does not itself verify a donation or add your name to the donor page.

Request donor acknowledgment. This optional thanks does not reserve a service, guarantee story publication, or provide a special archive benefit. All gifts remain unrestricted.

Explore corporate support

Companies can inquire about supporting the annual fund. An inquiry starts a conversation; it is not a donation, an employer match, or money counted toward the goal. Any sponsorship arrangement needs a separate review and agreement. Sending an inquiry does not secure advertising, logo placement, or other promotional benefits.

Your employer may double your donation

If your company offers a 1:1 match, your $25 contribution can become $50 for Italian American heritage. Employer eligibility, limits, and deadlines determine whether a match applies.

Many workplace-giving programs use Benevity. Open your company’s employee-giving portal and search for Alghini Institute for Italian Americans, EIN 99-0439703. Check the matching offer displayed by your employer before completing your gift. An eligible portal gift can receive a match automatically when an employer’s matching offer applies. Benevity explains employer matching.

If you give through your company, you can optionally use “I gave through my company” on our workplace-giving page. Your note helps us reconcile the gift; the gift and match enter public progress only after verification. A note is not a second donation.

You can also donate directly. If your employer accepts external gifts for matching, follow its instructions and retain your donation receipt.
